Leye D Johns wins Lancashire Tourism Superstar 2016 Award – for VIVA Blackpool

Leye D Johns (VIVA Blackpool) has won the Lancashire Tourism Superstar 2016 Award.

On Thursday 10 November, Blackburn Cathedral was the stunning venue for the annual Lancashire Tourism Awards – to celebrate tourism excellence and the £3.8 billion contribution the industry makes to the Lancashire economy. The final award for Tourism Superstar (with the winner decided by an online public vote) acknowledged an individual who had gone the ‘extra mile’ to enhance the visitor experience or been an extraordinary ambassador for Lancashire tourism.

WINNER: Leye D Johns – a key member of the VIVA Blackpool team, transforming a large empty Mecca Bingo Hall into a multi-room entertainment and events complex, dedicated to providing quality and live entertainment for Blackpool’s many visitors. In four years, Leye has built audiences to 70,000 visitors, brought much needed jobs to local people and helped support many local charities, close to his heart.

Ruth Connor, Chief Executive of Marketing Lancashire commented on the Tourism Awards:

“It is all about Lancashire’s amazing tourism businesses, experiences and people; it’s about celebrating and recognising the quality that we have in our tourism industry that attracts over 64 million people to the county.”
Leye D Johns now goes forward to the national final.
