Dr Joanne Phoenix
After 9 years in academia in Liverpool, Joanne spent time in industrial research with Nestle in Switzerland before joining a specialist clinical nutrition company as their senior scientist responsible for newproduct development in the neuroscience arena. Discovering a keen interest and flair for taking new concepts to market in this role, Joanne developed this further working with both academic inventors and Merseyside entrepreneurs as the first Business Development manager with MerseyBIO, a bioincubator organisation based at the University of Liverpool.
Joanne has extensive involvement with early stage businesses from an IP strategy, business development and fund-raising perspective. Her technology transfer role with MerseyBIO led to an expanding consultancy career with a number of early stage venture capital-backed businesses and she was the first-in CEO of Medalytix, a healthcare software company which delivered automated disease screening software into the NHS.
Joanne is well-connected in the North West, and has a broad-based, early-stage company experience. She particularly
enjoys helping to shape and drive forward new ideas and businesses, and identifying, initiating and building key relationships.
